Shroom and Gloom builds briefing

There is no verified public spreadsheet of “best endgame builds” for Early Access yet. This hub explains how to plan runs using only official systems: two decks, card growth/modification, eating and soup mechanics, and dungeon combat.

Verified from official sources

  • Two distinct decks: combat deck for battles; explore deck for dungeon navigation, card modification, and unlocking weapons/abilities.
  • Cards can be grown and modified extensively; low cards can become powerful attacks or rare cards can become “super-weapons” per store copy.
  • Less blocking, more eating: roast/season/skewer foes, eat them to restore health, or cook soups in a pot for strong effects.
  • Hundreds of cards and mega-combo potential are official marketing claims — not numerically verified here.

Honest gaps (not published yet)

  • No verified card-by-card starter/endgame lists, DPS rankings, or patch-versioned planners on this site.
  • No guaranteed “best build” for every encounter — Early Access balance may change.
  • Creator loadouts in videos are demonstrations, not verified meta unless reproduced and sourced.

Planning lanes (not MMO classes)

  • Combat-forward: prioritize combat deck tools for fungal foes and boss-style pressure — exact card names withheld until catalogued.
  • Explore-forward: invest explore deck navigation and modification to unlock weapons/abilities earlier in a run.
  • Growth-forward: lean on official infinite growth/modify loops for scaling attacks over a long dungeon.
  • Sustain-forward: use eating and soup mechanics described on Steam for recovery instead of assuming a block-heavy tank build.

Starter vs. endgame searches

Starter build questions are best answered in the demo: learn dual-deck pacing before copying a social post. Endgame build questions need a defined run goal (depth in The Gloom, achievement targets) and a game version — neither is fully catalogued here yet.

What a responsible build note must include later

  1. Game version / Early Access patch identifier.
  2. Which deck (combat vs. explore) each choice affects.
  3. Source for each card or mechanic claim (official patch note, in-game screenshot, or logged first-hand test).
  4. Encounter context only when the entity is officially named.

Starter build for the demo?

Use demo appid 3602770 to test combat vs. explore balance. We do not list specific card names without a verified card index.

Do soups define the meta?

Soups are a verified mechanic on the Steam page. Whether they dominate optimal play is not verified numerically on this site.
